Reconfiguration (rebuild) failed, preventing access to data.
|Equipment/Maker||IO Data LANDISK|
|HDD configuration||OS: XP, RAID configuration: RAID5, HDD: 4|
|for Diagnosis||1day||for Recovery||1day|
|Symptoms indicated by customer||
The equipment indicated a fault with the second HDD, and so it was replaced.
|Details of Diagnosis||A minor physical fault was found in the second HDD.
The Other 3 HDDs had no problems.
RAID was reconfigured with our own equipment by combining the first, third, and fourth HDDs. After confirming the existence of vital data, the data was extracted.
|Technical staff handling, comments||
By excluding the second HDD, it was relatively easy to recover the other 3 HDDs. To recover your data safely, RAID reconfiguration (rebuild) is what you should mostly avoid: scanning work will take two to three days, and it may even harm the vital data.
